Growing A Tech Savvy Community
Digital Bridge Delaware emerged from an idea while completing college coursework at Wilmington University. The idea to offer basic computer classes to help those who needed technology skills, but didn't know where to turn to receive training. Through research it became evident, that many communities, demonstrated a need for technology skills, and free access to the internet. Seniors and low socioeconomic individuals struggle to use technology effectively, and they lack equitable access to the internet, due to the cost, a major barrier for those on a fixed income or with limited resources. Digital Bridge Delaware was developed to bridge the divide, by providing digital literacy training and access to internet.
Embracing Digital Inclusion, an essential component of growing a tech-savvy community is ensuring digital inclusion for everyone. It’s important to bridge the digital divide by providing access to technology and resources for individuals who might otherwise be left behind. Initiatives such as offering free Wi-Fi in public spaces, affordable access to devices, and programs that teach digital literacy can empower underserved populations to participate in today’s connected world. By prioritizing inclusivity, communities can unlock the full potential of technology for all their members, ensuring that no one is left out of the digital revolution.
